This poem erases four articles from the journal Mosquito News. In the decades after the Pacific War, U.S. military scientists conducted insecticide experiments regularly on Okinawa to develop effective mosquito control tactics, and the results frequently appeared in Mosquito News, published by the American Mosquito Control Association. The erased articles are:
I: Chloride Ion Tolerance of Four Mosquitoes on Okinawa (1952)
II: Field Testing of Insecticidal Aerosol Against Two Species of Culex mosquitoes on Okinawa (1966)
III: Mosquitoes and Agriculture on Okinawa (1972)
IV: Seasonal Abundance of Mosquito Larval Counts and Adult Light Trap Catches in Okinawa (1973)
